Taormina Events, Summer 2016
The Ancient Greek Theatre, or the Teatro Antico di Taormina, is one of the must-see historical sites in Taormina. You can visit the Teatro Antico in the day, but why not use it for it’s true purpose? Sit on the ancient benches and watch a concert or a show!
The Teatro Antico is made mostly from brick, and dates back to the Roman era. However, the layout of the theatre is similar to that of greek theatres, so it is believed that the current structure was built upon ancient greek foundations. Even though the walls of the theatre are no longer complete, the acoustics are simply wonderful and there is no need for amplification! With a spectacular backdrop of Etna down to the sea, there is no better way to experience an outdoor summer concert.
